Have you ever had an idea that sounds so brilliant when you think of it but upon execution, you’re like ‘How could I possibly have not seen this coming??’ Well, that was me this morning…
Last night I finished the jar of Nutella and let it soak overnight. I’m borderline obsessed with recycling; we only get one planet to live on and I’d like to keep it preserved for the next generation and more, so I do everything I can to not just throw away plastic. Things that come in jars like peanut butter, mayonnaise and Nutella, you can’t just rinse them out and they’re clean, so I had the brilliant idea to boil extra water when I made my tea and I’d use it to clean the empty jar and boom, ready for the recycle bin! Totally not how it went. As I’m waiting for the water to boil, I’m going about my morning which included emptying the dishwasher (this is important later). Water is done, I stop what I’m doing, pour my tea and pour the rest of the water in the jar which is on the counter. I then screw the lid on and pick it up to shake around to really get all that sticky stuff off when the lid pops off! Duh! Steam=pressure! I instantly drop the jar spilling hot, chocolatey water all over the counter, floor, and, of course, down into the half empty dishwasher. So, my brilliant idea resulted in having to clean the counter, floor, and run the dishwasher again, because while I might have been able to simply rinse off the affected dishes you can’t just let the chocolatey water dry on the door and whatnot. Not exactly how I like to start my day, but at least I didn’t scald myself. Small miracles!

This must be what they mean when they say “Manufactured in a kitchen that may contain nuts.”
